Bang & Olufsen is now launching its BeoLab90 premium speakers as a special limited edition. Technically everything remains the same, but the materials and design have been adjusted a little. The aluminum crowns that encase the product are also made from solid walnut and accented with 24 carat gold-plated nodes.
This combination of wood and gold is intended to further enhance the speaker visually and haptically. In order to also improve acoustic transparency, Bang & Olufsen has replaced the previous textile cover with a fine metal grille. The grid consists of bronze threads attached to a frame with constant tension. Each of these grilles is made by hand, as the Danish manufacturer emphasizes. The wooden paneling at the base of the speakers was made from burr walnut.
A 24-carat gold-plated front panel is also an eye-catcher. Alternatively, for lovers of the classic BeoLab90 design, a metal grille can be chosen for the top of the speaker, which is otherwise open. The BeoLab 90 Limited Edition is further enhanced by two 24 carat gold plated shoulder plates on the sides of the speaker. These plates also offer space for personalization, be it with a family motto, a coat of arms or an individual message.
Only 50 pairs of the speakers, meaning 100 speakers, will be available to celebrate the company’s upcoming 100th anniversary. Each speaker has an individual number from 1 to 100. Customers can choose their own number on a first come, first served basis. Bang & Olufsen doesn’t mention a price, but you can assume that they’re targeting a very elite group of buyers. Because even the standard version of the BeoLab 90 costs a whopping 125,000 euros. The Limited Edition described should be significantly higher than that.
The BeoLab 90 Limited Edition can be admired exclusively in the company’s flagship store in Living Berlin, Kantstraße 17 in 10623 Berlin from September 4th to 11th.
