The Israel Antiquities Authority announced the discovery of four 1,900-year-old Roman swords and a pilum (Roman javelin) in a cave in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve on the west bank of the Dead Sea. The research group that examined the sword and spear believes that it is likely that they were hidden as spoils of war by Jewish rebels.The sword is located on the rock wall on the north side of the nature reserve.
