There is never enough security at home and protecting yourself is now essential both for those who have a detached house and for those who live in a condominium. Today we present a product that allows you to make your home a safe place. These are Eufy Security’s battery-powered cameras, in particular the eufyCam 3C.
eufyCam 3C it is the upgrade of the eufyCam 2C, inside it brings improved hardware but the functioning remains unchanged. The battery always guarantees 180 days of use (which after using them intensely is absolutely not true but I will explain in more detail). Furthermore, the Cam 3C has a graphic resolution of up to 4K which guarantees excellent visibility both day and night. And there is also an improved lighting spotlight.
Installation
Installation is very simple. First you will need to install the HomeBase 3, power it and grant it access to your internet network.
Once HomeBase 3 is installed, you can install the cameras by accessing the eufy security application. When you add the cameras you will be assisted in their installation by a guided procedure.
In less than 5 minutes you will have everything installed.
All that remains is the physical installation of the cameras by making 2 holes in the wall with a drill (5 or 6 diameter bit), then inserting the supplied fischers and screwing the support to which you will then apply the camera.
HomeBase 3
HomeBase is the brain of your security system and the siren to alert you to break-ins. This will allow you to have all your videos stored inside without having to pay annoying monthly fees. HomeBase 3 It has an integrated memory of approximately 16GB. It also offers the possibility to expand the mlocal memory. The local 4K security camera system has specific management of your data which is protected by military-grade encryption. The internal storage can be expanded up to 16 TB of data with an HD or SSD (not included of course).
The real novelty of this HomeBase 3 (compared to 2) is to bring Artificial Intelligence functions. Thanks to these functions you will be able to recognize the faces of people, pets, cars and avoid triggering alarms when it is one of these registered on the system. The function is under development and I have seen that it is improving day by day.
The only flaw is that some eufy security products are not yet compatible with HomeBase 3. We will have to wait for future updates. For example I am unable to pair my SmartDrop with HomeBase 3 but I still need to use HomeBase 2.
eufyCam 3C
The cameras are small and easily controlled via app.
The first thing to do once installed is to set up motion detection and energy management.
Motion detection
Here we can manage the sensitivity of the camera, the types of detection such as people with use of AI, presence, vehicle, pet and finally all the motions. The most important thing is to set the activity areas to prevent the burglar alarm from sounding at unwanted times due to “useless” movements. The advice is in fact to avoid framing plants that can move with the wind or lights that come on at night and even roads outside your home as these can occasionally trigger the siren of your burglar alarm and make you wake up in panic mode in the middle of the night.
Energy management
Here it will be important to select the right setting for your use. I have always used the item: “optimal battery life”. This guarantees me the information necessary for my use, i.e.: a 20-second recording from the moment it detects movement and guarantees longer battery life. Battery which in this mode will last approximately 130 days after being charged to 100%.
Day vision
The view from the camera during the day is of high quality. In fact, thanks to the 4K resolution you can also zoom while shooting without losing details. Local videos are recorded at 3840 × 2160 with an overall bit rate of 1893 kb/s using HEVC. If we make a recording of about 9 seconds we will only occupy 1.9 MB.
Night vision
Whether we use night vision or the reflector (light), the shots are excellent. The integrated reflector provides enough light to record in color even at night. However, to improve the battery of the camera I prefer to use black and white night vision.
Conclusion
The camera is certainly one of the best options on the market for those who want a reliable security system without having to pay monthly subscriptions.
Easy installation and even more immediate use make these cameras the strong point. The price is certainly not the cheapest, but after trying different systems I have to say that I feel I can recommend this product to anyone (both for internal and external use). The reliability is very high and the operation is almost perfect (I rarely experience non-movement phenomena that turn into an alarm that goes off).
Thanks to this product I feel safe at home and I have more peace of mind being able to control the cameras at any time via my smartphone.
You can purchase the product for approx €500 on Amazon.it
