There’s something new for the character of Ahsoka Tano! In the new Star Wars series on Disney+, the heroine appeared during episode 5 in a costume that serves as a wink.
Ahsoka is broadcast exclusively in France on Disney+ since August 23, 2023. You can subscribe in several ways:
Episode 5 ofAhsoka ends with a major turning point for the rest of the plot. Above all, it allows us to deepen links with Rebels, the animated series that introduced many of the characters we follow today. This also involves clothes: an outfit worn by the Jedi heroine refers to the final episode of Rebels.
This article isn’t going to contain any major spoilers — Ahsoka Tano’s outfit isn’t exactly the heart of the episode. That being said, it is recommended to be up to date to avoid any unpleasant surprises. And as always, don’t wait too long to see it, if you follow the saga assiduously: spoilers circulate very quickly on the Internet and you are never safe from being fooled.
An outfit that makes the link with Rebels
Towards the end of the episode, we find Ahsoka trying to recover from the adventures she has just gone through – we can only understand her, given what is happening in today’s broadcast and last week’s broadcast. . It’s there that she hatches a plan to search for Ezra Bridger — a friend who has been missing since the end of Rebels.
During this sequence, her outfit changes. Until now, Ahsoka was seen wearing particularly dark clothes. But in the episode, we notice a small transition: she appears with a large woolen cloth on her, white in color. And later still, Ahsoka Tano has completed her transformation: she appears in a white outfit.
For those who have seen Rebelsimpossible not to think of the epilogue of Rebels. It is in fact in this same costume that Ahsoka Tano found Sabine Wren, thirty years ago. In that moment, we seemed to be looking at a charismatic, experienced and wise Jedi master. Features reflecting the adventures, as well as the painful moments experienced by the young woman.
At that moment of Rebels, Sabine Wren like Ahsoka Tano had the firm intention of going in search of Ezra Bridger. However, when Ahsoka wears these same clothes in the eponymous series, thirty years later, it is also to find the young man. The Jedi has a lead and this one will take him far, far away from the galaxy of Star Wars.
“Ahsoka the White”
When Ahsoka first showed up wearing this outfit in the series Rebelsin 2018, the public could not help but draw an amusing parallel with Gandalfthe magician of Lord of the Rings. He also experiences a change in clothing: he dresses in rags when he is called Gandalf the Grey. But he later returns as Gandalf the White.
This marks the evolution of Gandalf’s power, whose place in the order of magicians to which he belongs has moved favorably. He is now the leader of his caste and this transition to white is the symbolic translation. Along the way, he also gains a new, much more elegant stick and the quality of his outfit has also greatly improved.
We know that Gandalf returned from the dead after an epic battle with the balrog. He was fired in Middle Earthbecause he had not yet accomplished his work.
We can also analyze it this way for Ahsoka: she almost died. Between life and death, in a place outside of time and space, she also resurfaced. Literally and figuratively.
The symbol through clothing
This symbolic evolution of Gandalf by outfit can also be applied to the Jedi. After all, episode five makes us understand that Ahsoka Tano has also ended up reaching a new level. She seems to have finally completed his Jedi training. She could find your master through the Force. Finally, she seems more at peace with herself. And, wanting to live.
This transition is all the more justified because at that moment, Ahsoka has come a long way. She was defeated by Baylan Skoll and almost died in the process. She found herself in the world between worlds. She also relived some difficult moments from the Clone Wars, which she went through when she was just a teenager.
Symbolically, we sometimes associate the color of the clothes worn by the heroes of Star Wars to their acquaintance with the Force. Towards black, we are more on the dark side. Towards white, we are more towards the light side. Ahsoka Tano, who wore gray, always stayed on the light side. However, she gradually became marginalized from the Jedi order.
Other examples abound. We can think of Anakin Skywalker in the prelogy, but also to Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy. The latter wears light clothing in episode IV, to signify his innocence and youth. Episodes V and VI expose a slide towards the dark: he borders on the dark side, and this reflects the shock of the revelations about his father.
The transformation that Ahsoka has just undergone will undoubtedly not be too much for the adventures that await her. She will indeed go to an unknown, and undoubtedly hostile, place, with many adversaries who will face her: Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati, Morgan Elsbeth and, above all, Grand Admiral Thrawn. This looks promising.
