It’s with the official launch of the model on September 1, 2023 that everyone found out that the novelty would be well presented to the public at the IAA Munich fair.
The affluence of the weekend is not yet there, that we can already observe a force of attraction around the Model 3 from this Tuesday, September 5th. It is the electric car which will certainly make the biggest volume in the coming months. It is legitimate for the press, like visitors, to flock to see it.
Crouching looking for a camera… that doesn’t exist
This position is not a salutation to any god, except perhaps God Elon. At the show, the media and brand fans almost all check the presence or absence of a camera at the front of the car. The Munich show is adopting a rather atypical strategy. Part of the event takes place in the exhibition center (Messe, in German), but another part is made up of stands set up in different prominent points of the city center. Tesla has opted, like many manufacturers, for two different stands:
- A very small one in Hall A2, not far from that of Renault;
- A much more spacious one, on Königsplatz, between Rimac and Ford.
In the exhibition centre, the two models on display (Model 3 and Model Y) take up almost all the space on the stand. So, the mass of onlookers ends up creating traffic jams in the driveway in front of the cars. It’s almost a sector to avoid if you don’t want to come and see Tesla. You have to jostle to be able to approach the car, and even to hope to get into it.
The exhibition space is much larger, although there are still only two models on display. In this space, a little something extra awaits the children to distract them for a few minutes. Tesla has installed the same screens as on board its cars, on which controllers are connected. This is an opportunity to test one of the games that are available in the Tesla to kill time at the supercharger.
Even if there is space on this second stand, we crowd around the Model 3 to discover all the little new features of the model. There should be a lot of people this weekend.
No jealousy, even Chinese brands have their little success
Things are starting to change. Previously, during trade shows, historical brands were always favored by visitors. This is much less true now. Chinese brands like BYD, Leapmotor and even Seres have visitors. In town, Avatr or Xpeng also fill their stand.
