We are now close to the Apple presentation event, but as often happens, the rumors of the last few hours are starting to pour in, and this time we’re talking about the names of the new devices. Apple’s highest-end iPhone this year it will be called iPhone 15 Pro Max instead of iPhone 15 Ultra, as reported Friday by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. Other devices in the lineup will include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro.
Gurman himself previously reported that Apple was considering the Ultra brand for its highest-end iPhone, taking a parallel path to that taken with Apple Watch in the Ultra versionbut such abandonment may only be temporary.
The same journalist believes it is possible that the name will be used for the iPhone 16 Ultra, when (based on initial hypotheses) a larger 6.9-inch display will be introduced, obviously next year. For now, it looks like the Pro Max branding will continue to be around for at least another year.
It is said that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will exclusively include an improved telephoto lens with up to 6x optical zoom, compared to the 3x limit currently present on the top models on the market. The device should also feature a titanium frame, a customizable Action button, a faster A17 Bionic processor, thinner bezels, Wi-Fi 6E support and more, as you can read in our summary article linked above.
It is rumored that the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max will increase slightly compared toiPhone 14 Pro Maxat least in the United States, but we will know very soon if our country will also be involved in the price increases.
Apple is ready to unveil the iPhone 15 series in its “Wonderlust” event Tuesday 12 September at 7.00 pm, according to our time zone.
