If you think of a hybrid carit is likely that a car that combines a combustion engine with an electric engine comes to mind, such as a Toyota Priusbut the term “hybrid” can be broader if applied to the world of automobiles.
It can also be used in a model that is two cars in one: on the one hand it is a traditional sedan and on the other it has a supercar design. You don’t need to use your imagination: someone has created a car like this and I assure you that it is the most curious thing you will see in a long time.
Handcrafted, with a double personality and extremely striking
When you really like cars and you can only have oneyou have to make decisions and choose the option that best suits your needs. There are many people who would like to have a sports car, but, since it is not the most practical option, they end up buying a sedan.
Some manufacturers are aware that there are people who face this dilemma, which is why there are models that offer the best of several worlds, such as the Porsche Panamera, which is halfway between a classic sedan and a sports car.
However, not even the Panamera has as aggressive a design as a supercar. But that is not a problem for a “handyman” who cannot find his ideal car on the market and has directly decided make it by hand.
It is about Libardinoa digital creator who has more than 800,000 followers on his Instagram account, called @libardino hombrededios. Although his company is really dedicated to fashion, it seems that he is also a fan of cars and has shared his latest project with his followers: a half sedan, half sports car. Literally.
Through several publications on social networks, Libardino has shared the entire process of creating this “hybrid” that is made on the basis of an old Hyundai Accent. Obviously, all the work is handmade and Libardino has done it with his own hands.
First he cut off half of the Accent’s body and, little by little, shaped it into a sporty design car, while the other side of the car was left intact to have the original Accent design. To create the sports car side, he used putty, 3D design and a lot of sheet metal.
He also changed the Accent’s original four-bolt wheel hubs for six-bolt ones and some spacers to mount much larger wheels than the original ones (which, by the way, seem to be installed backwards). Since he couldn’t have different wheels on each side, he put the same ones on the side of the Accent, so the design of the traditional sedan has ended up being more aggressive.
The height of both sides does not match, obviously, a sports car must be lower, so the union of both sides has a step on the roof, even the front window has this step. It also has one less door on the sports car side because it has lengthened the driver’s door and eliminated the rear one.
The inside is also modified, so that the side of the supercar has sports seats and a design that is clearly different from the other side, which is that of the original Accent.
When everything was ready, he painted it, opting for an inconspicuous color for the side of the sports car. The result is really curious and, of course, could not be more striking. In case you have any doubts, you should know that the car is fully functional and can circulate.
Of course, in Spain nothing similar can be homologated, but in Colombia it seems so and Libardino is already moving with his “half traditional, half super sports” car while he works on his next project, a replica of a Lamborghini Revuelto which is also being manufactured traditionally in its workshop and will be completely electric.
