When one is looking for a tablet that is capable of replacing a computer both in power and in usability, always ends up on the iPad Pro. It combines everything, it is light, thin, powerful, with an impressive screen, a chip capable of anything, and accessories for whatever it takes. The best? It practically does not heat up.
Last week talk later of a complete redesign of the iPad Pro 2024. Mark Gurman had explained in his newsletter last week that Apple wanted to maintain the essentials of the device but alter the format that has been in place since 2018. To this he added that taking advantage of the opportunity, those of Cupertino would change the Magic Keyboard. He was not very specific, but today he has given more details.
Getting closer to being a computer

In your newsletter power on Today, Mark Gurman has outlined what could be the new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro. The central idea of this change is to show that Apple’s most powerful tablet can also be a computer, and not just act like one. The difference is subtle, but understandable.
According to the Bloomberg analyst, the main change would be the use of aluminum. Not completely, but its internal part. The rest will be made of a material very similar, if not identical, to a MacBook in its Air and Pro versions. In that sense, it will also incorporate a larger trackpad to increase the similarities between the two product lines. They are in themselves well differentiated, but it seems that at Apple they want there to be certain specific aspects of each one that are intertwined.
As the main bad news – it could not be all good – its price could rise. Mark Gurman doesn’t state it directly, but he does drop it. He says that aluminum is more expensive and “premium”, so would justify a price increase. In addition, it will only include, it says, a USB-C port, so if it is true, we can forget about connecting various accessories. It would come out together with the new iPad Pro at some point in 2024, unless there is a surprise and it is announced next to the iPhone 15 in the September 12 Keynotebut it does not seem that it will be the case.
